The ongoing global crisis has not had much impact on the employment scenario in India and the country has been able to generate a considerable number of jobs over the last three years, said the Survey.

Drawing a comparison with other developed nations, the Survey pointed out that while developed nations adopted "ad-hoc measures" to counter job losses, India's employment generation programmes were planned with a long-term outlook.

India added more than 900,000 jobs in the one-year period between September 2010 and 2011. The highest jobs were offered by the IT/BPO sector (8.0 lakh).
