The ongoing probe into the granite quarrying scam in Tamil Nadu on Monday took a twist with skeletal remains being found in a bag at a spot near Melur in Madurai district.

According to reports, the finding indicated human sacrifice by owners of a granite company in the region. It is learnt that the skeletal remains have been sent to Chennai for forensic tests.

It may be noted that the probe being carried out by IAS officer Sagayam has been in the news for a while. Also, some influential persons have come under the scanner.

The discovery of skeletal remains and Sagayam camping near a crematorium in Madurai has generated a lot of attention.

Meanwhile, leaders of various political parties including the opposition DMK and Vijayakanth-led DMDK have alleged that the AIADMK-led government in Tamil Nadu was not extending cooperation to the probe.
