India's leading carmaker Maruti Udyog Ltd on Thursday reported a 63.1 per cent increase in net profit for the first quarter ended June 30, 2006 at Rs 369.5 crore, as compared to Rs 226.4 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal.

Total income (net of excise) during the period under review jumped by 20 per cent at Rs 3,268.7 crore against Rs 2,723.6 crore in the same period a year ago.
