SSU normal after tension defused

TENSION GRIPPED the campus of Sampurnanand Sanskrit University for a few hours on Friday evening following a dispute between examinees and administrative officials over use of unfair means in the annual examination on the campus. The agitated examinees also raided the house of a lady teacher and ransacked some property. Soon after the incident, heavy police force including jawans of Rapid Action Force (RAF) rushed to the university to control the situation.

The agitated examinees also raided the house of a lady teacher and ransacked some property.

Soon after the incident, heavy police force including jawans of Rapid Action Force (RAF) rushed to the university to control the situation.

In the second shift of the examination on Friday, the flying squad caught 32 examinees of different courses using unfair means. Besides, nine others were caught from other centres in the city in the morning shift. An examinee was caught redhanded using unfair means at a centre of the SSU in Bhadohi district.The examinees were demanding that the cancellation of their examination be revoked.

Heavy police force had been deployed on the campus to avoid any untoward incident.

Later, a meeting was held between the student leaders and members of the varsity’s proctorical board and Controller of Examination. After talks between the two sides, a decision was taken to examine the answersheets of examinees to find out whether they had answered on the basis of written and printed material found in their possession.

At this, the examinees calmed down and ended their demonstration. All examinees who were caught copying have been allowed to appear in further examinations.

Meanwhile, normalcy returned on the campus on Saturday with smooth conduct of examinations in the morning shift. Nothing untoward was reported till the filing of this report. The cops had been withdrawn by the administration from the campus but the members of varsity’s proctorial board intensified their patrolling at different examination centres in and around the city.
