The five men, according to the police, admitted to their involvement in the murder of six people including the sensational murder of Gurgaon Municipal Councilor Sangita Rajje.

Two of the gangsters, Karamvir and Rajat, surrendered in a Gurgaon court on May 4. Their interrogation led to the arrest of the remaining three. Karamvir and Rajat have been sent to five-day police remand. They would be produced in the court today.

Maninder, Sanjay and Krishan Dalal, the police said were arrested on Monday.

The three admitted to their involvement in the six murders. "The six killings were the result of a gang war. Some of the victims were members of rival gangs," said Gurgaon Range IGP Mohinder Lal.

"During interrogation, they helped the police recover one 30 mm US Carbine, five sophisticated foreign pistols of 7.625 mm and 9 mm range, three imported revolvers and two countrymade pistols. We also recovered 270 live cartridges and five magazines from their hideouts," Lal said. The IGP disclosed that Karamvir and Rajat are both professional shooters and were involved in the murder of Sangita Rajje, a municipal councillor. Karamvir "had practically eliminated the whole gang led by Rajesh alias Rajje, monitored by his wife Sangita after his murder in June 2002".
