Two LeT militants killed in Rajouri

Two Lashker-e-Toiba militants were killed in a fierce gun battle between a group of ultras and the security forces in a forest area in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

Two Lashker-e-Toiba militants were killed in a fierce gun battle between a group of ultras and the security forces in a forest area in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, police said.

Acting on intelligence inputs that a group of militants are hiding in Baji Mahal forest in Dharamsal, about 146 kms from here, policemen led by Additional SP of Nowshera R K Bhat launched a cordon and search operation with the assistance of 60, 63 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) and 8 Maha Regiment personnel early in the morning, they said.

The operation party was tracking the group of seven to eight militants who had infiltrated into this side and taken shelter in the area when the ultras fired on them and hurled grenades.

The troops fired back resulting in a fierce gun battle in which two LeT militants were killed, they said adding, the operation was still on when the last reports came in from the area.
