"The two test tours I've been here in the past, I was inconsistent," Warne said on Sunday in Bangalore, where he and his team-mates arrived for the first of a four Test series beginning on Wednesday.
"I've had success in the first test match of each of those series and in the next two I haven't done that well. This time, I'm hopefully going to try my best for Australia to win the series," he told reporters.
Warne has claimed 527 wickets in 112 Tests and is the second highest wicket-taker in the world, behind Sri Lanka's Muthiah Muralitharan.
Warne's career average is 25.47 runs per wicket. But against Indian batsmen, considered masters of playing spin, he disappointed in both his outings in 1998 and 2001, in which Australia lost both series.
Warne has played a total of six Tests on Indian wickets, dismissing 20 batsmen at 52.25 runs per wicket.
