Lok Sabha elections 2019: Two arrested for attack Congress lawmaker Aditi Singh

After facing criticism, the state police on Wednesday arrested two people in connection with the attack on Congress lawmaker Aditi Singh’s convoy in Rae Bareli on Tuesday.

Director General of Police (DGP) OP Singh said two people identified as Bhupendra Singh and Yogesh Singh alias Chottu were arrested after multiple raids. He said at least 13 people were identified through footage from the CCTV cameras installed at the Bachrawan toll plaza in Rae Bareli.
Multiple police teams were deployed to track people identified through CCTV footage, he said, adding stern action will be taken against the culprits.
Earlier, the police had registered an FIR against six people by name, including BJP’s Rae Bareli Lok Sabha candidate Dinesh Pratap Singh, his two brothers Awadesh Singh (zila panchayat chairman) and Ganesh Singh, Abhishek Singh, Terra Singh and Baccha Singh. Seven other unidentified people were also booked.
The FIR was registered on charges of rioting, attempt to murder, voluntarily causing hurt, act of endangering life and use of criminal force. The police registered the FIR on the complaint of Zila Panchayat member Rakesh Awasthi, who was seriously injured in Tuesday’s attack.
