The police are looking out for one more person in this case.
The GRP said that the duo used to extort money from passengers who were not handicapped but used to travel in the reserved compartment in suburban locals.
The accused, Afzal Kadar Khan, 29, consumed liquor and boarded a compartment reserved for handicapped passengers along with his accomplice Mahesh Rahate at around 1pm from Thane. They then began checking tickets and fining defaulters.
“The duo charged around halfa-dozen passengers. They then caught a senior citizen and slapped him to extort money,” said SS Dhumal, senior police inspector Kurla GRP. Passengers complained about their behaviour to the police who took Khan in to custody.
Rahate however, fled the scene in the scuffle that ensued.
