“So, the sky gets cloudy with the result that the temperature has not been dipping too much,” VK Rajeev, director, western region, India Meteorological Department said. Weathermen have forecast a minimum temperature of 20 degree Celsius for Tuesday, with partly cloudy sky.

Weathermen say, unlike the monsoon, which has an onset date of June 11, there is no specific date for the arrival or withdrawal of winter. For the rest of the seasons, the rise or fall in temperature indicates the arrival of summer and monsoon respectively.

“For the last few days, the nights and early mornings have been very pleasant. As we have had a very good monsoon this year, I am expecting a chilly winter,” Janaki Shah, a banker said. “We’ve started carrying stoles to office and asking for the air conditioner to be turned off intermittently.” With winter setting in many parts of the country, expect cold winds from north for the next three months.
