According to inspector Sunil Patil, the arrest came after a married couple from West Bengal lodged a rape complaint against the trio.

In their complaint, the couple said they had come to the city in search of work and were staying in Malad.

A man introduced them to the main accused Mamnur Rashid Rafiq Siddhiqui alias Raju Rai, 37, a native of Murshidabad in West Bengal.

Siddhiqui, who currently stays in Gholap Nagar, Kalyan, promised the couple decent jobs and brought them to Kalyan.

After sending the victim’s husband to Kolhapur under the pretext of some work, he, along with a friend, raped her. They then forced her into flesh trade at Hotel Dreamland.

After the investigation, police arrested Siddhiqui along with Raju Vasant Londhe, 32, of Pune, and Pradeep Mohanti, 35, manager of the hotel.

During questioning, the police found that Siddhiqui was using PAN cards with fake names. He also possessed an Aadhar card.

Police are investigating the case nearby to find out whether more people are involved in the racket.
