Signs of high functioning anxiety

Anxiety can be extremely difficult, and when it is high functioning anxiety, it can affect our mental, physical and emotional health intensely. "The pressure to appear to have it altogether while you’re suffering in the inside can be a real burden to carry. Perfectionism can contribute unrealistic standards that are impossible to obtain and a fear of failure. Overthinking can come up as well in an attempt to think our way out of problems but our thoughts can spiral and we may catastrophize or ruminate," wrote Therapist Nadia Fiorita.6

Signs that you are over-responsible

Sometimes being over-responsible and taking it all on us to do the job can be very frustrating. This also sometimes means that we are stretching our limits and not respecting our boundaries while doing the work. Being over-responsible comes with its own set of burnouts for the body and the mind. "Over-responsible people are people-pleasers who suppress and repress themselves to prioritise others and to minimise or eliminate conflict, criticism, rejection, disappointment and loss. They often do good things for the wrong reasons because they don't know another way of coping," wrote Therapist Lalitaa Suglani. Here are a few signs that we are over-responsible.6
