Two cases of rape with minor girls have been reported in the past 24 hours in the city. Police have registered two separate cases in this context.In the first case, a 15-year-old girl was raped by her colleague on the pretext of marriage. Cops at the Division Number 5 police station registered a case against the accused, identified as Gobind Singh, 21, of Jodhan village, on Friday and arrested him.
The case was registered following a complaint by the aunt of the victim. In her complaint, the woman alleged that her 15-years-old niece, who works at a local factory in Jodhan village, live in the hostel of the factory.
The accused, who worked at the same factory, ferried the minor girl to some lonely place, raped her and later dropped near inter-state bus terminus.
When the victim didn't reach the hostel, the warden enquired about the girl from her aunt. Asking about the incident, the minor girl narrated the entire story to her.
Meanwhile, a first information report (FIR) has been registered against the accused sections 363 (punishment for kidnapping), 366-A (procuration of minor girl) and 376 (punishment for rape) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
In the second case, Jodhewal police arrested a 20-year-old for abducting and raping a 16-year-old girl on the pretext of marriage and rape.
The accused had taken the girl to Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh (UP), where she was raped by him. Police arrested the accused, identified as Mohammad, from Saharanpur and recovered the girl from his possession.
The victim is also a native of Saharanpur but her family had shifted to Basti Jodhewal in Ludhiana in 2013. A case under sections 363, 366-A and 376 of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
