With the Jalandhar rural police on Wednesday having procured another three-day remand of Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harminder Singh Mintoo in connection with the case registered against him in August this year, the police of other districts are also in line to interrogate the dreaded terrorist.
Sources said since Mintoo has been facing several cases in Ropar, Jagraon (Ludhiana), Gurdaspur, Patiala and Amritsar, the police of these districts will also seek his custody soon. Since Mintoo hails from Dalli village at Bhogpur of Jalandhar district, the rural police are leaving no stone unturned to get information about his network.
Sources in the rural police said during the interrogation of terrorists Mintoo, Gurpreet Singh Gopi, Harpreet Singh Pintu and Daljeet Singh, they stumbled upon information about the network of their sleeper cells.
They further said it had become a serious concern for the rural police to counter the terror plans of these sleeper cells.
“We have got vital information about these sleeper cells formed by the outfit in various parts of the state such as Ropar and Gurdaspur. More arrests may be made in the coming days,” an official said.
The police are to extract information from Mintoo about other terrorist outfit Khalistan Zindabad Force and the network of its chief Ranjit Singh Neeta.
On Wednesday afternoon, Mintoo was produced before a local court and the rural police sought his remand in the FIR registered against him at the Bhogpur police station. The police had arrested three KLF operatives. The FIR (number 102) was registered on August 2 this year.
The other three arrested terrorists who were also produced in court were sent to jail from where they were brought by the Jalandhar rural police on November 20 and procured their three-day remand.
The group is learnt to have planned to carry an attack in Anandpur Sahib and Jammu-based three arrested KLF ultras had asked sleeper cells to execute the same. The police, however, have failed to get any information about members of the sleeper cell. Police officials have been directed to identify and nab them at the earliest.
The group held several meetings at various places in Gurdaspur and Jalandhar while its members also met many time in Pathankot district as well.
