The administration seems to have woken up to the poor civic conditions of the city as the authorities are reportedly busy finding out solutions to problems being faced by residents.

Pathankot deputy commissioner Sukhvinder Singh is said to be in regular touch with the newly-appointed joint commissioner of Pathankot corporation and is holding meetings daily to find solutions to common problems like sanitation, stray animals and poor condition of roads.

The DC also met traffic cops and has asked corporation officials to submit a master plan to ease traffic jams.

"I was pained to see the traffic jams and other problems the residents are facing. Hence, I have personally visited many areas to find a permanent solution to the problems," Singh said.

He added that he, along with joint commissioner Amit Mahajan, had suggested new ways to divert traffic in busy places and for the purpose, an alternate road near Kali Mata Mandir was being planned.
Regarding the problems of stray animals and increasing number of bulls in the town, Singh said he had asked the corporation officials to chalk out a plan to drive the animals to the nearby hills in a phased manner.

When asked about broken roads, the DC said many roads had been repaired with the help and efforts of local MLAs and the remaining areas were also in his notice and would be repaired soon.
