Ferozepur tattoo shop killing: Day on, two arrested, hunt on for five more

The victim, Ashu Monga, was shot dead by four persons on Thursday, allegedly over an old rivalry. As per the police, the victim had got into a verbal dispute with the accused a few days ago, which is likely the reason behind his brutal killing.

Second Covid-19 case reported in Ferozepur

As per official sources, the patient had recently travelled to Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. After his return, he began experiencing health issues and was admitted to the railway hospital in Ferozepur. On June 2, he tested positive for Covid-19 through a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT).

Punjab: A 25-year-old AAP sarpanch dies by suicide

According to available information, the sarpanch, an active member of AAP, allegedly shot himself with his licenced pistol at around 11.20 pm, shortly after posting an emotional ghazal on his Facebook account.

Ferozepur: 2.16 kg heroin, intoxicating tablets seized with arrest of 3

The accused in the first case was identified as Harpreet Singh alias Happy, 24, a resident of Nihala Kilcha village, who was caught with 1.062 kg heroin and ₹1.30 lakh drug money. Ferozepur senior superintendent of police (SSP) Bhupinder Singh Sidhu said Happy has been booked under Section 21 of the Narcotics Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act.

In the third case, Sandeep Kumar alias Aalu, 33, of Bootewala of Tarn Taran district was nabbed with 360 intoxicating tablets, <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>7 lakh drug money, and a Swift car. A case under Section 22 of the NDPS Act was registered against him. (HT File)

Cross-border drug smuggling racket busted, one held with 3.5-kg heroin

The DGP said that preliminary investigation revealed that the accused was in direct contact with a Pakistan-based smuggler, who was using drones to drop the drug consignments from across the border. Further investigation is underway to trace the forward and backward linkages in this case, he added.

3 drug smugglers held, 14-kg heroin recovered

In the Tarn Taran operation police dismantled a drug trafficking cartel with the arrest of two drug smugglers and recovered 6kg heroin from their possession, said director general of police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav.

Those arrested by Tarn Taran police have been identified as Hardeep Singh, alias Deep, and Harjeet Singh, both residents of Thathi Sohal village. The police teams have also impounded their Swift car being used for smuggling drugs.
