India asks Britain for increased monitoring of Sikh separatists

India has raised concerns with the UK about pro-Khalistani elements misusing their asylum status to abet terror activities. The issue was raised at the 5th India-UK Home Affairs Dialogue, where both sides reviewed ongoing cooperation and identified further steps that can be taken to advance counterterrorism cooperation. Cybersecurity, drug-trafficking and migration issues were also discussed. Last month, the tricolour flying atop the High Commission in London was grabbed at by a group of protesters waving separatist Khalistani flags, leading to an arrest related to violent disorder.

After the National Flag was pulled down by Khalistan supporters on Sunday ina protest against India’s operation on Amritpal Singh, a bigger flag was put up on the high commission building. (AP)
