In June 2021, US President Joe Biden announced a plan to send 8 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines as donation to other countries. India is yet to receive any shipment under the scheme, even as neighbours like Pakistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Sri Lanka have benefited. When asked why, US State Department spokesperson Ned Price said that India has its internal legal and regulatory processes pending due to which America has not been able to send any consignments.
