16 sentenced to death in 1997 Jehanabad Massacre Case.

A Bihar court sentenced 16 people to death in the 1997 Laxmanpur Bathe massacre that occurred in Bihar's Jehanabad district. The private militia of landlords named Ranvir Sena had killed 58 unarmed members of a low caste community. Out of the 58 dead, 27 were women and 16 were children. While the court sentenced 16 people to death, 10 others were sentenced to life. They were also slapped a fine of Rs 50,000 each. 19 others were set free for want of concreted evidence.
