Cyclone Thane leaves 33 dead in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu

Cyclone Thane killed at least 33 people and left a trail of devastation across the Tamil Nadu coast. Waves, as high as 1.5 meters, have lashed Chennai city while winds at a speed of 140 kilometers per hour in the state and neighboring Puducherry. After hitting the Chennai coast Friday, the cyclone has passed Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and it is now heading towards Bangalore. The government has announced a relief of 150 crores and 2 lakh compensation for the relatives of the dead victims.
