Haryana IAS officer TC Gupta on Friday said he has never been allotted more than one plot by the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) at any point of time, including 27 years of service in IAS.
In a written statement, the officer who is posted as principal secretary, town and country planning, Haryana, said his wife who is a Class-1 officer in the Haryana government was allotted a 14-marla plot through draw of lots in Sector 10, Gurgaon, more than 20 years ago in June 1994. “She was eligible for allotment as per the scheme framed by HUDA and the allotment of this plot is not in question. However, she has not been allotted any other plot by HUDA till date in Haryana,” he said.
Gupta said HUDA, in 1999, floated a scheme for allotment of plots to Haryana employees and he applied for it since he was eligible to apply for the allotment.
“The plot was allotted to me through draw of lots at the time when I was not connected with HUDA in any manner. I was eligible to apply for the plot even though my wife was allotted a plot in Gurgaon earlier. It is pertinent to mention that as per the scheme, both the wife and husband were eligible to apply. The eligibility condition clearly laid down this,” he said.
The IAS officer said Gurgaon plot was allotted to his wife was sold and was transferred in the name of re-allottee in 1998. However, even if she was holding that plot on that date when I applied for allotment, I was eligible in terms of the eligibility conditions, he said. “In nutshell, we both being government servants, were eligible to get a plot each during lifetime under the government servant quota and accordingly after being successful in draw of lots held in January, 2000, the plot was allotted to me,” he said.
