Lucknow: Teenager held for allegedly killing mother after argument

The incident took place at a flat in Vision Apartment near Rajendra Nagar crossing around 9am, police said. The teenager allegedly attacked his mother on the head with a tool during the argument.

A 42-year-old woman was allegedly killed by her 17-year-old son following an argument over his gender identity at their apartment in Naka area on Thursday morning, police said. The teenager remained at the spot after the alleged attack and was taken into custody.

The incident took place at a flat in Vision Apartment near Rajendra Nagar crossing around 9am, police said. The teenager allegedly attacked his mother on the head with a tool during the argument.

According to Naka SHO Vivek Chaudhary, the teenager had been living separately in another flat following differences within the family over his gender identity. “He had gone to meet his family on Thursday. An argument broke out, following which he allegedly attacked his mother,” Chaudhary said.

The teenager did not flee and remained at the apartment until police arrived.

Police said the family, which runs a business, was financially well-off. Investigators are examining the circumstances in which the teenager had been living separately and the events leading to the confrontation.

Police and forensic teams inspected the flat and collected evidence. The weapon was also seized for examination, police said.
