20-year-old dies during trek
The deceased, identified as Ritesh Konka, was a resident of the Kopar area in Dombivli West and a student of S.I. College, Dombivli.
According to the police, Konka had gone trekking on the popular Irshalwadi-Irshalgad route along with five friends.
During the trek, Konka reportedly complained of discomfort before suddenly collapsing. His friends initially tried to assist him, but he soon lost consciousness. Two members of the group then rushed to the base village and alerted local residents.
With the help of villagers, Konka was taken to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead before treatment.
Doctors said that while the exact cause of death would be confirmed only after the post-mortem examination, preliminary observations indicate that he may have suffered heatstroke or a cardiac arrest during the trek.
