A 19-year-old Class XII student shot himself with his uncle’s French-made pistol after being reprimanded for buying an expensive cellphone.

The incident took place in Mundka area in Nangloi of west Delhi on Thursday night around 11pm.

“Sunny Lakra shot himself with his uncle’s pistol. He had bought a costly mobile phone while his family members had asked him not to. Sunny’s father Ramesh came to know about this and he reprimanded him,” said deputy commissioner Sharad Aggarwal.
