The police said Mohla endangered the safety of all other passengers on board the IndiGo Airlines aircraft 6E-334 (Goa to Delhi).

“Jitender Mohla said he was a hijacker involved in the Kandahar hijacking and told the crew members that he has a gun and infectious needles. If released on bail, he may influence the witness and tamper with the evidence,” said the prosecution.

A flight attendant had lodged a complaint stating that Mohla, claiming to be a DGCA official, was creating nuisance on board by changing his seat and moving around in the aircraft. He later claimed to hijack the plane, the complainant said.

“He just wanted to change his seat. The crewmembers wrongly communicated the message claiming that he was trying to hijack the plane. No recoveries were made from his possession,” said H.S. Phoolka, defence counsel.

The additional chief metropolitan magistrate has reserved the order on his bail application for Saturday.
