“We are confident of getting two thirds majority by winning at least 50 seats in the Capital,” said BJP’s chief ministerial candidate VK Malhotra.

Talking to HT, Malhotra was careful to reiterate that the BJP is not making the Mumbai terror attack a poll issue but also admitted that there is widespread anguish among city residents.

“Residents in my constituency were agitated. They said they have started feeling vulnerable every time they step out of their homes,” he said.

Even the party’s spin-doctors are of the view that the Mumbai terror attack, though unfortunate, might actually help the BJP.

“It will prove to be the deciding factor in swinging votes in BJP’s favour,” said a BJP insider.

Malhotra added if the party is voted to power, combating terror would be its top priority.
