Terrorists are planning to gift-wrap bombs and send them prominent persons.
The home ministry has sent an advisory to all states last week.
The advisory asked the states to direct police stations to sensitise prominent persons within their jurisdiction not to open gifts from unknown persons.
A government source said that neatly-wrapped gift could be a bomb and it could be triggered to go off as soon as the gift is opened .
The advisory asked states to subject every parcel through an explosive detecting machine.
