Two RSS men in CBI net for shielding Ajmer blasts accused

Two senior RSS functionaries from Uttar Pradesh – Ashok Varshney and Ashok Berry have come under the CBI scanner for allegedly giving shelter to 2007 Ajmer blasts accused Devender Gupta, reports said today.

Two senior RSS functionaries from Uttar Pradesh – Ashok Varshney and Ashok Berry have come under the CBI scanner for allegedly giving shelter to 2007 Ajmer blasts accused Devender Gupta, reports said on Saturday.

Reports quoted CBI sources saying that the senior RSS functionaries from Uttar Pradesh not only gave shelter to accused Devender Gupta but also organised his stay in Lucknow and Sitapur in the state.

According to the sources, Devender confessed about help from Varshney and Berry before the CBI sleuths in their presence.

Umar Daan, lawyer of the accused, however alleged his clients were being "politically targeted".

Meanwhile, the CBI director has refused to divulge any details about the case.

Addressing a press conference on Saturday, he said that that the CBI would be submitting its findings before the court soon.
