NEW DELHI: The Centre on Wednesday told the Delhi high court that quick response teams, additional sign boards, private security guards had been put in place to ensure the safety of visitors to the Delhi Zoo.

The Centre said that it had been taking measures to ensure the safety of visitors, including announcements from time to time regarding dos and don’ts. After hearing the submissions of the Centre, a bench of chief justice G Rohini and justice Jayant Nath disposed of a petition filed in public interest by advocate Avadh Kaushik to ensure the safety and security of visitors to the zoo. The petition was filed after 20-year-old Maqsood was mauled to death by a white tiger in 2014.
