Five hundred students (10 from each of DU’s 50 colleges) were interviewed. The respondents were asked to rate the top three colleges. The survey was conducted by Market Xcel Data Matrix, a market research company. This week, we present the list of the colleges which annually organises the best festivals, or fests.

In the survey, most students credited Shri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) for having the best festival. The respondents pointed out that the biggest crowd comes to SRCC’s fest Crossroads. The next college is Sri Venkateswara, followed by St Stephen’s.

What is the magic behind SRCC? One respondent said, “The college has a very good budget and it always invites some really popular guests.” Another said, “SRCC’s fest is very savvy in pulling in the right brands and that makes it a hit with students.” One more student who voted for this college said, “This college organises events at a very large scale and that always impresses the crowd.”

Sri Venkateswara is number two in the list but it has no reason to feel despondent. “In Venkateswara’s fest, Nexus, dancing and food arrangement is very good,” said a respondent. Another pointed that “the college invites a lot of celebrities, which becomes a wow value in the entire university campus.” One more student said, “The way they glamourise the event is best in DU.” Another said, “The musical performances are always very good here.”

St Stephen’s Harmony ranks third in the best college fests list. Though outsiders are not allowed, Stephanians, nonetheless, are proud of it. “Our college has one of the best college festivals in DU because we don’t let in the outsiders come,” one student said.

Another said, “The fest is organised at St Stephen’s in a new way every year so you are always in suspense what will be the look of the new year’s fest.” Many respondents credited the fact that college managements chiefly manages the entire affair, which makes the whole show run smoothly.

St Stephen’s is followed by Hans Raj College, Hindu College, Kirori Mal College, Ramjas College, Jesus & Mary College, Miranda House College and Lady Shri Ram College for Women. Students voting for the Miranda House said that the college gets good DJs to its fest. Those voting for Kirori Mal pointed out the college’s ability to pull in filmstars. One respondent said, “Once we brought in Shakti Kapoor.”
