Hollywood star Salma Hayek says she met Mallika Sherawat only briefly, even though the Bollywood actress has been gushing about their “friendship”.

Mallika Sherawat may have proclaimed her friendship with Hollywood hottie Salma Hayek, but the latter says she’s only met Mallika “briefly”.

During the Cannes Film Festival, Mallika had tweeted how Salma was her “new-friend”. “Hung out last night with my new friend Salma Hayek. Adore her,” Mallika wrote. However, in an interview from Los Angeles, Salma says, “I met Mallika briefly at Cannes... I would love to work with her in Bollywood, but nobody has approached me with this,” says Hayek, putting to rest news reports that claimed the two actors were doing a film on women’s abuse together. “I would love to do films in Bollywood,” she reiterates.

Hayek, who had, a few years ago, started a production company with the aim of creating more roles for Latino women in Hollywood, feels that skin colour is a “big problem” there. “Being Latin is one extra limitation in Hollywood,” she says.

In Bollywood, though, she’s certain she can pull off a song and dance routine. “I can see myself doing the song and dance in Bollywood, and being good at it,” she says.

For now, she’s pretty busy promoting her film, Grown Ups, in which she stars alongside Adam Sandler and Chris Rock.
