No football, no marriage!

FIFA 2010 will conclude this Sunday, but that doesn’t mean that Indians will forget football till the next World Cup. That’s what Shaadi.com found out in a recent survey. According to a poll, 70 per cent of Indian respondents will not marry someone who doesn’t share their passion for the game.The matrimonial portal’s World Cup 2010 poll revealed that these days, it’s the compatibility of hobbies and interests that play a vital role in the decision to marry.
Interestingly, nearly 46 per cent of the female respondents said that they’d like to watch the final with their girl friends, while only 18 per cent men said that they’d watch it with their male friends. The World Cup is also bringing families together with 34.8 per cent female respondents and 46 per cent male respondents saying they would like to watch the finals with their families.
“Although cricket is the people’s sport of India, football seems to be gaining ground,” says Gourav Rakshit, business head, Shaadi.com. “The responses show that people believe it is important to find someone who shares one’s interests.”
