Actor Ram Charan turned 40 on March 27, and the makers of his 16th film, Peddi, released his first look from the film. While the actor has played a rustic role before in Rangasthalam, the internet was quick to draw parallels instead with Allu Arjun’s look from Pushpa: The Rise. Ram Charan’s first look from Peddi compared to Pushpa

Two posters of Ram’s first look from Peddi were released on his birthday on Thursday. One poster sees him looking intensely into the camera as he lights up a beedi, and the second sees him dressed in a torn shirt and holding a cricket bat. While fans loved his rustic look, they also couldn’t help but draw parallels between Peddi and Pushpa.

One fan even compared his second poster to Yash’s poster for KGF: Chapter 1, writing, “Naku okkadikena meku kuda #Pushpa and #kgfchapter1 first look gurthochinda #Peddi (Is it just me or does this remind you too of Pushpa and KGF Chapter 1’s first looks?)” Another X (formerly Twitter) user agreed, “Heavy Pushpa Vibes Throughout.”

Some fans were happy to see similar ‘intensity’ from the cousins, writing, “Bava Bawmardhi. Same Intensity. #Peddi #RC16 #Pushpa.” One fan even went as far as to splice the first look of Peddi and Pushpa: The Rise to show how similar both looks were in the way they’re shot.

One X user posted both posters, joking, “Same Same But Different. @AlwaysRamCharan for #RC16 #Peddi, @alluarjun for #PushpaTheRise. Haa sukumar writings ey ga Theda em untundi look lo kuda @aryasukku. (Sukumar Writings backed both films so of course there’s no difference in both looks)”

Ram’s fans, however, reminded people that he had already played a rustic character in Rangasthalam, claiming Pushpa’s look was inspired by that. One fan wrote, “Andharu Pushpa Raj look, Pushpa Raj look antaru endi? Aa Pushpa Raj look ye Chitti Babu di aithe? (Why is everyone saying it looks similar to Pushpa Raj? When Chitti Babu inspires Pushja Raj’s look?”

About Peddi

Sukumar’s former assistant director, Buchi Babu Sana, who debuted as a director in 2021 with Uppena, directs Peddi. The film is presented by Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings and produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas. Apart from Ram, Peddi also stars Shiva Rajkumar, Janhvi Kapoor, Jagapathi Babu and Divyendu Sharma in key roles. AR Rahman is composing the film’s music.
