CONGRESS WORKERS led by former MLA PC Sharma will stage a demonstration at Boat Club to protest against the State Government’s alleged involvement in polluting the Upper Lake by introducing a cruise boat. In a press release issued today, Sharma said Bhopal’s Upper Lake was the only water body where such a cruise boat was being run despite the fact that water was being used for drinking purposes.

Sharma said the previous Congress Government had prepared the Rs 250 crore Bhoj Wetland Project for the protection of the Upper Lake. However, the present Government had failed to start the sewage pump houses constructed under this scheme so far. Sharma alleged the State Government had been ruining the Upper Lake, which was the only source of drinking water for a large part of the City.

In protest against cruise boats and other motorboats, Congress workers led by Sharma will march towards Boat Club from the Chief Minister’s residence. The Congress leader demanded that cruise boats and other motorboats be immediately removed from the Upper Lake.
