HAVING TAMED successfully student union leaders and their stir, Lucknow University (LU) administration has now trained the guns on the employees’ union.
Varsity administration flayed the employees for disrupting normal functioning at a time when the admission process was under progress and advised them to give it up and extend support for all-round development of the varsity.

LU officials on Thursday waged counter attack on agitated employees union and clarified that most of their demands for which they had stalled work had either already been made or were in the process of being fulfilled. The V-C said there was a demand for creation of new posts for Class III and Class IV employees.
The proposal given by the Union is being examined and will be submitted to the government within a week.
Employees’ union needs to understand that creation of post is not something for which a definite timeframe can be set. Another demand of the employees about harassment in the Birbal Sahni, Management Girls, and Law (New Campus) hostels has been referred to the Chief Provost and Dean, Students Welfare.
A quick and prompt decision will be taken soon, sources said.
As regards the Arts College, money for GPF has been deposited in the treasury and the amount for Group Insurance has been deposited too. The amount for Bank Loan and LU Cooperative Bank Limited has also been deposited. As far as the three-months’ salary advance is concerned (which is about 1 lakh), the process is in advance stage.
In an official communiqué, LU V-C RP Singh said: “I am pained to see continuation of the unjust and unreasonable strike of University Employees’ Union. It is even more painful when most of their demands have already been fulfilled or in the process of being fulfilled. Yet, they are abstaining from work.”
The employee participation in entrance exams will be ensured and payments will be made as per the rates given last year, so the demand in this regard is hollow.
Other issues regarding promotion and adjustments are being looked into sympathetically. LU V-C stated that the employees’ houses were being repaired and maintained at a rate never before. Repairing of 97 of the 154 houses is already over and the remaining 50-odds are about to be completed. Moreover, unapproved employees of the university have been paid at the highest scale as per the decision of Finance Committee.
The varsity declared that in the light of above, it is clear that most of the allegations made against LU administration were baseless and motivated. The Union says money is being wasted on beautification. But there is no truth in it, LU authorities reiterated, adding that they would not buckle under pressure as there was no truth in such allegations.
