Additional sessions court inMumbai on Saturday granted anticipatory bail to Punjab Singer Mika Singh, who had approached the court fearing his arrest following the molestation case filed by 'item girl' Rakhi Sawant.

Judge SP Davare has granted conditional anticipatory bail of Rs 20,000 to Mika Singh, who has been asked to cooperate with the investigating officer and attend the police station between 5 pm to 7 pm twice a week for one month andnot to influence upon the witness and tamper the evidence.

Also, the singer should not leave the country without permission from the court concerned and deposit his passport to the investigating officer.

"There is no need for custodial interrogation for such an offence and my client is ready to face the trial in this case, Mika's counsel Shyam Marwadi said. He reminded the court that IPC 506 II was not in the FIR and it was added subsequently. He also said he had no earlier crime record and neither was any weapon seized from his possession.

However, while opposing the anticipatory bail application(ABA) plea, Counsel Rahul Moghe and public Prosecutor Ashok Deshmukh argued that if granted bail, Mika will influence the witnesses. Regarding 506 II, they argued that the court shall consider it as it was a part of the same incident.

They also said his custody will lead to trace the other two accused in this case, who were still at large.

A complaint in this regard has been filed with Oshiwara Police Station on June 11 under IPC sections 323, 354, 34 and 506 II against Mika Singh, his bodyguard 'Tiger' and his friend Mikki Sardar.

According to Rakhi, Mika allegedly misbehaved with her at his birthday bash on June 10.

Meanwhile, Rakhi Sawant has approached the National Commission for Women. She alleged that immediately after Mika got anticipatory bail, she received threatening calls and SMSs.

Sawant said, "The caller said we will fix you for the problems created against Mika."

"I have informed the police on the latest develoment and am concerned about my safety now," she added.

Police sources confirmed that Sawant had informed them about threatening calls and the matter was being investigated. Police are trying to trace the origin of the calls and SMSs, sources added.

Sawant's counsel Rahul Moghe said he was waiting for the police investigation to be completed. "We will decide the next course of action only after police investigation was complete," he added.
