Report on Dinakaran's nationality to EC

TN Chief Electoral Officer said he would send a report to the EC about the issue relating to AIADMK candidate TTV Dinakaran's nationality, contesting from the Periyakulam LS seat.

Tamil Nadu Chief Electoral Officer Mruthunjay Sarangi on Wednesday said he would send a report to the Election Commission about the issue relating to the nationality of the AIADMK candidate TTV Dinakaran, contesting from the Periyakulam Lok Sabha constituency.

Asked about the issue, Sarangi told newsmen here that after looking into the matter he would send his report to the EC.

Yesterday, EC had directed the CEO to immediately call for the passport of Dinakaran and determine whether he was an NRI or not.

According to Janata Party President Dr Subramanian Swamy, who quoted an EC's message to him, Dinakaran's passport would clarify whether he was an Indian citizen or a permanent resident of Singapore.
