School faces action for illegal construction
MUMBAI: A Nalasopara school with 1,800 students is facing action for building additional floors and structures without the required permissions .

The Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) registered a case under the Maharashtra Regional and Town Planning (MRTP) Act,1966, with a local police station against the Uma Devi Education Trust that manages the Mahura Bal Vikas Vidyalaya in Nalasopara. There have been no arrests so far. The school has students up to Class 12.
On September 22, VVMC filed a case at the Tulinj police, saying the school did not bother to reply to notices sent earlier. VVMC said the school’s ground-plus-four structure was illegal.
Sources said VVMC conducted a survey in December 2015 and issued a notice, but the school ignored it. The civic body issued another notice in January this year. The trustees confirmed receiving VVMC’s notices under the MRTP Act, but did not comment about why they did not reply.
