Four people were arrested and a huge cache of arms was seized during a special drive on Republic Day in Kolhapur, the police said.

“We have averted some major acts of crime with this seizure,” said Suprintendent of Police Yashashvi Yadav.
“We have found that these people had links in Nagpur, Nanded and Indore and we our teams have fanned out to these places,” Yadav told Hindustan Times.
Yadav said 40 per cent of the seized arms were of Chinese make.
“The swords have torches and [mariner’s] compasses attached to them. A pistol has also been seized,” he said, adding more seizures and arrests were likely soon.
“We arrested three local criminals during a special drive which started on January 26,” said Yadav. “They gave us information about a local trader, Anand Khanuja, from whose godown we seized around 1,100 weapons.” Yadav said.
The arms, he said, had been concealed in a makeshift attic in the godown.
