Girl molested, attacked by jilted man
A 17-year-old girl was molested and attacked with a knife on Friday by a man who was in love with her.
A 17-year-old girl was molested and attacked with a knife on Friday by a man who was in love with her.
The incident took place at Bhakti Marg, close to the Mulund police station at Mulund (West).
The police said the incident took place around 12.45pm when the accused, Mangesh Deshmukh, a resident of Thane, stopped the victim, a second-year junior college commerce student, who was on her way back home from college, with some friends.
“Deshmukh stopped the victim and proposed to her. The victim slapped him. Unable to bear the rejection, he took a knife out of his pocket and slashed the victim’s face,” said Sanjay Shintre, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 7). The victim sustained cuts on her cheek and chin. Deshmukh fled, leaving the knife behind.
The victim’s friends rushed her to Sri Hospital, Mulund where she is undergoing treatment. The victim told her parents that Deshmukh who would follow and harass her often, police said. Deshmukh is absconding.
