BJP on Thursday criticised Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar's statement about possible price rise of rice and held the UPA Government's policy responsible for the same.

"Pawar's statement about increase in prices of rice will actually trigger price further and we condemn it," BJP spokesperson Prakash Javadekar told reporters in Mumbai.

"It is not the job of the minister to talk about price rise but to ensure lower prices and give relief to the people," he said.

Blaming the UPA Government for price rise, Javadekar said the Government only analyses the situation but does not provide any remedy.
