Filmmaker Shankar’s new film Enthiran 2 (Robot 2), a sequel to the 2010 superhit Enthiran (Robot), could end up being India’s most expensive film ever. According a report in Firstpost, the director has apparently told his producers, London-based Lyca Production, that he cannot make the film in anything less than Rs 250 crore. The article goes on to say that the film will cost anything in the range of Rs 250-300 crore.

The most expensive film made in India till now is SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali, the two-part magnum opus which was made at the cost of Rs 250 crore.

If all goes well, Enthiran 2 will feature Hollywood biggie Arnold Schwarzenegger as the villain. The actor has apparently demanded a whopping US $20 million (around Rs 120 crore) for the role. The film will have superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. The actor was in the US to undergo a make-up test for the role.

Weta Workshop, the team that designed different looks for Vikram in his movie I, will handle Rajini’s look in Robot 2. The much-appreciated Srinivas Mohan, who was the VFX supervisor for Baahubali, will be the VFX specialist for the project.

Rajinikanth is currently busy with the shooting of his upcoming gangster film Kabali in Malaysia. As per reports, the work on Enthiran 2 will commence with an elaborate pooja on Rajinikanth’s 65th birthday in December this year.
