Bangladesh: Communal tensions prevail despite official action to curb violence

Tensions have been simmering in Bangladesh as unabated targeted attacks are being carried out against Hindus in the country, that started in Cumilla during Durga Puja have spread to other parts and there are reports of violence, arson, and killing from various parts of the country.

Anatomy of planned desecration and riots in Bangladesh

The Sheikh Hasina government is trying to unearth the conspiracy behind the planned desecration, which is believed to have been carried out by rabid Islamists belonging to Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh. The three accused men are: Iqbal Hossain, Fayez and Ekram Hossain.

Bangladesh Police identify man behind Quran incident which triggered violence

The Bangladesh Police said that the man in question is Iqbal Hossain. He was identified form the CCTV footage which shows him taking the Quran from a local mosque and walking into a Durga Puja venue in Comilla.
