According to the government’s standard operating procedure, people can file an appeal once they receive the certified copies of their NRC rejection order on a designated portal which will allocate them a unique reference number.

NRC: 400 Foreigners’ Tribunals to deal with cases of excluded people

The Foreigners’ Tribunals are Quasi judicial courts mandated to hear appeals of those excluded from the NRC.

The NRC list is due on July 31, 2019, the deadline set by the Supreme Court. Those whose names do not figure in the list have the option of approaching the foreigners tribunals to prove their Indian citizenship or the tribunal could declare them a foreigner.

The Restricted Area Permit (RAP), which forbids people from visiting prohibited locations without permission, may be reimposed in the North Sentinel island where an American was killed by members of a highly protected and reclusive tribe, officials said Wednesday. The central government has also found that 44 incidents of violation of rules and regulations, other than RAP, by foreigners have taken place in the Andaman and Nicobar islands in the recent past.
