Two killed as vehicle rolls into gorge in Kinnaur

Two people were killed after the pick-up they were travelling in plunged into a gorge in Kinnaur on Sunday night. The victims, Navjeet Singh, 22, and Kuldeep, 23, residents of Rohru were on their way back to Sangla from Chitkul village when they lost control of the vehicle near Sushang village on the Chitkul-Sangla link road.

Efforts on to retrieve body of retired BSF officer who died on recce to China border

SC Negi, who belonged to Kinnaur, had commanded a BSF battalion in Kargil during the 1999 war between India and Pakistan, and had retired in 2010 after 33 years of service.
The body is kept at Ganthambralam border post at a height of 18,600 feet in Himachal Pradesh, while a helicopter sortie is awaited to pick the mortal remains.

Four Covid-19 positive patients die in Uttarakhand, state tally rises to 8,623

A total of 102 Covid-19 positive patients have died in Uttarakhand till now with 16 patients dying due to coronavirus, according to the health officials. The rest of the positive patients died due to co-morbidities and other causes, added health officials.

Uttarakhand: District administration decides to test all soldiers before allowing them to go for their border posting

Mayur Dixit, district magistrate (DM), Uttarkashi, said that some of the ITBP personnel had come in contact with earlier Covid-19 patients, and the others had returned from leave from their respective native places.
