The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Lakhimpur incident has filed an application in the court of chief judicial magistrate, Lakhimpur, for adding new sections against 13 accused, including 307 of the Indian Penal Code, making their offence punishable under attempt to murder charges and not causing death by negligence. Eight people, including four farmers and a local journalist, were killed in Uttar Pradesh's Lakhimpur Kheri on October 3 in the violence that erupted during a farmers' protest. Till date, SIT has arrested 13 people in the case including Ashish Mishra, son of Union minister of state for Home Ajay Mishra. Watch this video for more.
