District court lawyers in the Capital had observed a day-long strike on March 10 in protest against "rising corruption" in Judiciary. There were many strikes on various issues in the recent past paralyzing judicial work and causing harassment to litigants.
The Delhi Judicial Service Association (DJSA) expressed its "anguish" over allegations made by the lawyers' body.
"The association is anguished over the manner in which imputations have been levelled by generalizing and trivialising the entire issue. It takes a strong exception to the resolution of the Bar which speaks against the protection given to the judges under the Judges' Protection Act," DJSA secretary Praveen Singh said.
“How could the Bar associations claim to be the keepers of judicial conscience when they stand in violation of the directions of Supreme Court?"
