The teenager was employed at Railway Ministry official Prashant Mandal’s residence, police said. She got the job at his residence through a placement agency.

According to the girl, police said, Mandal and his wife Pinki allegedly used to beat her up. On Tuesday, when she said she wanted to go home, she was “locked up in their bathroom”.

However, she managed to escape and approached an NGO. The NGO then took her to the Juvenile Justice Board which asked DCP (South) H.G.S. Dhaliwal to take action in the case. Mandal was taken into custody for questioning.
