The relatives tried to get in touch with the pilgrims on phone and contacted the help line phone numbers to ascertain the safety of their near and dear ones. The busy phones lines made them more anxious. By late evenings, the names of the persons, who were injured in the mishap, had not been announced and this kept the citizens apprehensive.
One pilgrim from Bhopal, Ahmed Kamaal of Koh-e-Fiza, rang up his family to inform about his welfare. He said he was at the spot when the tragedy occurred and at least 12 around him died.
