Workers protest leader?s murder
WORKERS OF Triveni Glass factory came out on the road to block the movement of vehicles in protest against the murder of their union leader Amrendra Pandeyon Friday.. The road blockade put up by them was still going on at the time of filing the report.
They were demanding the presence of the DM and the SSP to lift the road blockade.According to reports, the workers also blocked the railway track in Ghoorpur, affecting movement of some trains. The workers set a UPSRTC bus on fire and the PAC had to resort to lathicharge to control the mob. The workers demanded immediate arrest of the killers and blamed the management of the factory for the murder.
They alleged that Pandey had submitted an application in the Ghoorpur police station some time back, saying that he apprehended a threat to his life from the manag-ement.Pandey lived on the factory premises and was very popular.
He was reportedly murdered near one of the factory gates while going to the Ghoorpur market on his cycle.Three masked miscreants lying in wait for him opened fire on him, killing him on the spot.
The killers who had come on a mobike, escaped on their vehicle soon after Pandey fell to their bullets.
Hearing the sound of gun fire, the workers rushed to the place and were shocked to see their leader lying in a pool of blood.
They ransacked the factory premises and damaged vehicles in protest of the murder.
